A company sponsored history of the GNR(I), written by the eminent railway historian, Kevin Murray (RIP). Chapters deal with each of the constituent companies that
made up the GNR(I) (Ulster Railway, Dublin & Drogheda Railway, Dublin & Belfast Junction Railway and the Irish North Western Railway) as well as a chapter on the
GNR(I) itself.
The photograph section of the book contains some interesting photos, including reconstruction of the Boyne Viaduct in 1932 and Dundalk works. There are also
chapters on locomotives, railcars, rolling stock, the reconstruction of the Boyne Viaduct, Dundalk Works and the Emergency (World War 2).
